The ELGA Order of Merit seeks to make a fair comparison
between the performance of English lady amateur golfers
across a spectrum of scratch tournaments and team
events. There are four component tables.
Points are awarded for all finishing positions down
to 20th in stroke play and last 16 in match play.
Each event is classified according to the quality
of the field and a weighting multiple is applied to
the points awarded. County team match results are
awarded fixed points.
The 2003 Order of Merit included
over 400 adults and 150 girls, keeping a connection
between the elite golfer and the county golfer. The
Order of Merit does not determine team selection;
it is one of many factors taken into consideration.
