England sweep to victory in Senior

England
swept to victory in the Senior Home Internationals
with a 7-0 whitewash of Wales on the final day of
the matches at Kilkeel, Ireland.
The team dominated the three-day
event to keep a firm grip on the crown which they
won last year, when this championship was launched.
England put on a near-perfect performance
throughout the series, winning 18 of their 21 matches.
They beat Ireland 6-1 on the first day and followed
up with a 5-2 win over Scotland, before staging their
storming finish against Wales.
ELGA chairman Cathy Bowerbank praised
the team and their captain, Bridget Jackson. “This
was an excellent performance by all the girls, they
were all tremendous, and we are delighted to retain
this trophy,” she said.
“We had a very strong team
led by our new seniors champion, Chris Quinn, who
had a 100 per cent record, with six wins from six
matches. “
The team, captained by Bridget
Jackson, was: Liz Boatman (Royal Worlington &
Newmarket), Carole Caldwell (Sunningdale), Chris Quinn
(South Winchester), Vivien Saunders (Cambridge Meridian),
Christine Stirling (Meon Valley), Christine Watson
(Beaconsfield).
Results: Day One: England beat
Ireland 6-1; Scotland beat Wales 4-3.
Day Two: England beat Scotland 5-2; Wales beat Ireland
5-2.
Day Three: England beat Wales 7-0; Scotland beat Ireland
5½- 1½.
