Fame More reaches final qualifying for LPGA Tour.
10 October 2004

England star Fame More is one hurdle away from joining the world’s top women professionals in America after winning a place at the final LPGA Tour School.

The 23-year-old from Chesterfield will make her bid to join the 2005 Tour in the five-round final at Daytona Beach, Florida, from December 1-5.

Fame claimed her place when she finished 9th in a qualifying tournament at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida, with rounds of 76, 73, 72, 75.

This was the second of two qualifiers and the top 30 players and ties from each event go forward to the final. They join LPGA players who finished outside the top 90 on the money list this season, and 10 players from the Futures Tour.

During a top amateur career Fame played in two Curtis Cup teams, was an England international and won the English Mid-Amateur Championship at Moor Park in August.

Two other England members of this year’s Curtis Cup team failed to reach the LPGA final. Danielle Masters from Kent finished 36th at Venice, while Shelley McKevitt of Reading missed the halfway cut.
