Sian makes a quick start in the US
12 October 2004

English strokeplay champion Sian Reddick has made a quick start on the US college golf circuit.

The 19-year-old from Sene Valley in Kent has just begun her first year at Baylor University, Texas – and she’s already made her mark in the golf team.

Sian shot the Baylor Bears’ low score of the tournament at the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate tournament with her second round, a level par 72.

She opened with a 75 and added a final round 79 to finish tied 10th – with another English student, Danielle Roseberry.

It was Sian’s best US tournament finish so far and her scores helped the Bears to third place in the team event, which was contested by 18 colleges.

“She’s got off to a good start,” said her mum, Karen Reddick. “Her coach is pleased with her and she’s absolutely loving it.”

Sian won the English strokeplay title at Woodhall Spa in July, finishing five shots clear of the field.

· Danielle, 20, from Durham City, is a third-year student at New Mexico State University, which hosted the tournament. Her team finished fourth. She is a former England girl international.
