European Trophy at the R&A Junior Open Championship
at Barassie Golf Club.
14 July 2004
Henrietta
Brockway (Yeovil) (4) 141 (73 68) has won the Central
European Trophy at the R&A Junior Open Championship
at Barassie Golf Club.
Final results;
Henrietta Brockway from Yeovil finished down the mixed
field for the last round with a 79 for 228 but she
will be going home with the Central European Trophy
for the competitor, male or female from Great Britain
& Ireland plus Central Europe, with the lowest
net aggregate for the first two rounds. "Henny,"
only 14 years old had net scores of 73 and 68 for
141. All the girl competitors had two strokes added
to their handicap for net score purposes over the
first 36 holes, so that they could play to a par 72
format, the same as the boys. Henrietta’s official
handicap is two but in the R&A Junior Open she
played off four.
Day 2 results;
Esther Chloe, a 14-year-old scratch player from California,
won the Girls' Trophy, this was decided over the first
two rounds. She shot 75 and 73 for 148 - pipping Henrietta
by a shot, she had scores of 77 and 72 for 149. Miss
Brockway worked on her putting stroke between rounds,
concentrating on taking the club back on the inside
and it helped her match the women's par in the second
round. She birdied the first and the 17th.
The 95 competitors from 59
countries will attend all four days of the Open championship
at Royal Troon as guests of the Royal Ancient Golf
Club.
