The English Ladies’ Golf Association 2004 team announcement

Selected players from England's Under 21 squad will compete in the Lady Juniors Team Championship, 6 – 10 July at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, Deal, Kent. Pat Skelton (Henbury), will captain the European Lady Juniors Team. Pat previously captained the European Girls’ Team in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 and the Girls International Team regaining the Stroyan Cup in 2000, which was retained in 2001and 2002.

The European Girls’ Team Championship, 6 – 10 July at the Golf National Golf Club, Paris, France. Angela Caton (Pleasington) will captain the Girls’ European Team, Angela has a wealth of experience on and off the course having led the winning Girls’ Home International team last year and also previously accompanied players to the European Young Masters.

6th Junior Open Championship 2004 to be played at Kilmarnock (Barassie)Golf Club, Troon, Scotland

Monday 12 – Wednesday 14 July

Every golfing nation is invited to send their best boy and girl golfer to compete and then enjoy the experience of attending the 133rd Open Championship at Royal Troon later in the week.

England’s Selection: Henrietta Brockway (Yeovil)

There are three categories of competitors, Gold (handicap 3 and under), Silver, Handicap 4 to 9 ) and Bronze (handicap10 – 21) all competitors must be under the age of 16 on 1st January and should not be younger than 12 years of age at the time of the Championship. All categories will play 18 holes of stroke play on both the 12th and 13th July with competitors in the Gold category playing a final 18 holes on the morning of Wednesday 14 July.

European Young Masters
The European Young Masters will be held at Styrian Golf Club, Murhof, Austria from 22 – 24 July 2004. The individual tournament is three rounds of 18-hole stroke play and the Nation’s Cup played within the tournament will be the three best gross scores out of four to count. The English Golf Union will select two players to make England’s team of four. Last year England’s team of Kiran Matharu, Florentyna Parker, Ben Parker and Oliver Fisher won the Silver Medal.
