Top professionals Laura Davies and Kirsty Taylor
will represent England in the 2006 Women’s World
Cup of Golf in Sun City, South Africa in January.
Other players in the 20-nation event include world
number one Annika Sorenstam who pairs up with Liselotte
Neumann for Sweden.
This will be the second Women’s World Cup of
Golf and the competitors will play three rounds of
betterball, foursomes and strokeplay for a $1.1million
purse. The tournament takes place at the Gary Player
Country Club from January 20-22.
The following teams have just been announced by the
Ladies European Tour. England: Kirsty Taylor and Laura
Davies. Finland: Minea Blomqvist and Riikka Hakkarainen.
France: Gwladys Nocera and Karine Icher. Germany:
Anja Monke and Miriam Nagl. Italy: Veronica Zorzi
and Silvia Cavalleri. New Zealand: Lynnette Brooky
and Gina Scott. Spain: Marta Prieto and Paula Marti.
Sweden: Annika Sorenstam and Liselotte Neumann. Wales:
Becky Brewerton and Becky Morgan.
Other countries confirmed for the event are defending
champions Japan and
Australia, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Korea, Mexico,
Philippines, Scotland, South Africa and the USA.
