Anna Scott wins St Andrew’s Links Junior Ladies
Championship 5 August
2005
Durham’s Anna Scott won the St Andrew’s
Links Junior Ladies Championship in an all-England
final against Yorkshire’s Naomi Edwards.
The 19-year-old student triumphed by two holes in
the match, played over the Old Course – where
Naomi won the St Rule Trophy earlier this year.
Anna (Consett & District) is a student at Georgia
State University in Atlanta, where she recently completed
an impressive first year.
Her win at St Andrew’s continues an English
tradition of success in this event. Last year’s
champion was Laura Eastwood (Yelverton) while Rachel
Bell (Ganton) held the title in 2002 and 2003.
England’s Faye Sanderson (Heworth) shared top
place in the first round qualifying with a 69 over
the Strathtyrum course. She bowed out of the tournament
in the semi-finals, beaten by her fellow England international,
Naomi Edwards (Ganton).
