England 's win Home Internationals for the 11th
time in 14 years

England have won the Home Internationals at Dundalk,
Ireland, dashing Irelands hat-trick hopes finishing
with a strong singles performance against Ireland,
the previous title holders.

England won all three days play, beating Wales on
the first day 6½ – 2½, Scotland, day
two 5 – 4 and Ireland on the finals day play 5½ – 3½.
The final points reading; England 17, Scotland 16½,
Wales 11 and Ireland 9½.
The entire team played their part in the success,
Laura Eastwood (Yelverton) clinching the final half
point against Maura Morrin ( Ireland ) and Kerry
Smith (Waterlooville) having a fight to the end in
the last singles match, eventually losing a tight
match to Tara Delaney ( Ireland ) 2 down, to a joyful
home crowd. Sophie Walker ( Kenwick Park ) had a
handsome 5&3 win against Curtis Cup player Claire
Coughlan ( Ireland ) and Emma Duggleby (Malton & Norton)
following suit beating Deirdre Smith ( Ireland )
8&7.
ELGA Chairman Jenny Clink said; "It is a great
win and a terrific team effort under Bev New's excellent
captaincy. We are very proud of them all."
The win is both a triumph for the players and the
lottery-funded World Class training programme run
by the English Ladies' Golf Association and concludes
a fantastic year where Team England have dominated
the European Team Championships, played a major part
in the Vagliano victory and the retained the Girls'
International title.

England have named a strong team for the Home International
matches at Dundalk, Ireland , from September 14-16.
The team, captained by Beverley New, aim to crown
a season in which England have already won the European
Girls' Team Championship and taken silver in the European
Ladies' Team Championship
