England teenagers to play in top US event

England teenagers Kiran Matharu and Florentyna Parker will compete in the 42nd Junior Orange Bowl International Championship at Biltmore Golf Club at Coral Gables , Florida , on 27th-30th December.

This is one of America 's top junior tournaments , with separate events for boys and girls. It attracts a high-class field from around the world and the list of past competitors includes Annika Sorenstam and Paula Creamer.

Both English players took part last year when Kiran tied 11 th and Florentyna was one shot behind in a share of 14 th place.

Kiran, 16, from Cookridge Hall in Yorkshire , was in England 's winning teams in the 2005 European Girls' Team Championships, the Girls' International matches and the Home Internationals. She is also the Faldo Series girls' champion.

Florentyna, 16, represents Royal Birkdale but is based in Germany where her father is a golf club professional. She is also an England girl international and her other credits this year include reaching the semi-finals of the British Girls' Championship and representing Europe in the 2005 Junior Solheim Cup in the USA.
