R&A bursaries for England golfers

Two golfers from ELGA’s Team England Performance Squad have received bursaries from the R&A.
Julie Ross ( Whitley Bay ) and Faye Sanderson (Heworth, Durham ) are among 54 students to receive awards, ranging from £500 to £3000, for this academic year.
Both players are students at Northumbria University and both represented England in the 2004 Home Internationals. A third member of that team, Alex Marshall ( Burghley Park ), has also received a bursary. Alex, a former English girls’ champion, is a student at Stirling University .
Among the other students to receive bursaries are: Samantha Birks of the University of Manchester , Samantha Round (Tadmarton Heath) of the University of Gloucestershire , and Emma Tipping (Sandiway) of the University of Stirling .
The R&A Foundation is currently spending over £250,000 a year on student golf.
